Seen as the gateway between East and West, Turkey has occupied a key place in global geopolitics since its foundation in the aftermath of the First World War. Straddling Asia and Europe, the Middle East and the Balkans, with borders touching several former Soviet Republics and a stockpile of American nuclear weapons on its soil, it is a pivotal player on the world stage. When those foreign policy elements are coupled with the intricacies of its domestic political culture, Turkey is well worth discussing! Events of the last few years have made such discussions increasingly pressing. Whether it was the failed coup attempt, the country's role Syria, or the killing of Jamal Khashoggi in a Saudi consulate on its soil, Turkey’s relevance is as great as ever. Join us and hear what the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey has to say!
